Merry Christmas!

Aloha!

This week was super slow and kinda hard. I was transferred to the Newport Zone in the Newport 2nd ward!  My companion is Elder Garrett.  We came out the same time and were in the MTC together. So, it's pretty awesome to reconnect!  It was pretty tough to leave Liberty Park after serving there for 7 1/2 months. I will miss that ward and all the people in it!  I will have to go back and visit after I get home for sure. I'm going there first!

This past week was rough.  Being transferred right before Christmas is the worst, but other than that everything seems to be running smoothly so far.

NewPort Zone
Tuesday night we got our new companions, dropped off everything at the apartment and had a late dinner with the Shringhams.  Super cool family!  We had tacos.....mmmmmmm super good. then we went back at the end of the night and started planning for the next day.

Wednesday we visited Henry.  He is in his late 70's and is one of our investigators.  Such a character! Cracks jokes every sentence!  He told us some of his stories and we answered some of his questions about the Book of Mormon.  He told us to come back next week and visit with him again.  We then stopped by a lot of people, but no one was home. We had dinner with Rich - super funny guy.  Also is a character and cracks jokes.  He's a convert of about 2 years and loooooves the missionaries!  He feeds us a lot and is such an awesome guy!

On Thursday we went to go see a less active.  She's been confined to a bed for over ten years and has had a lot of trials in her life.  We shared a scripture in Alma about trials and afflictions that Alma had when he served his mission.  It was a great visit (I'm just doing highlights for each day).  On Friday we had our district meetings and did weekly planning.  Super long day, but we got through it! Sunday was good.  The members were really nice and the Bishop... wow, he's really good and knows what he is doing!

I love this ward and I hope I can do a lot!

Thought: 2 Nephi 19:10

This is one of my favorite Isaiah verses - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  I love how the prophets knew that Christ was going to be born!  Let us all remember the true meaning of Christmas and share it with others.

I love you all and have a Merry Christmas!!

Love, Elder Chase Johnson
