Hello all!
This week went scary fast! I'm not really sure why but......
Anyway, this week was very good and crazy, not many
exchanges, which is good, and a lot of walking around and seeing no one.....I mean zip, nada, zilch! You would be surprised on how many people are not home
in Talega.....everyone is at the beach or elsewhere. It's really hard to
find something to do but we get around it, by just following the Spirit and
going where it wants me to go.:)
Let's seeeeee, this week: my first exchange was with Elder Davis in Mission Viejo. We first did our studies then we went out and
contacted at a park for a few hours. We talked to this lady who dated a LDS guy
and knows "a lot." We talked to her for an hour about families. She said
her biggest beef about the church was the church's stance on women - "all they do
is be like a baby machine and stay home and not pursue an education." I told her
that that wasn't true and that the leaders of our church encourage women
to get an education and then we explained what a woman's role was in the
home. After we talked to her, we talked to a less active guy that came up
to us and told us what he was going through. Oh and funny thing is that he said
his name was Joseph Smith, and was related to the Prophet Joseph Smith. Pretty
cool guy! After, we went to a member's house and did more contacting, had
dinner and ended our night.
The next exchange was with a new missionary who has only
been out 5 weeks. It was a really tough exchange. It was really hard to get him
going, so I kinda went at his pace. We walked around for 2 hours and then tried
to stop by potentials and had dinner with an investigator. Super cool
lady! She's soooo golden! I wish I was teaching someone like that!
The rest of the week we just did our normal
missionary work, contacted and tracted a lot! This morning we went on a
zone hike! So awesome!
Spiritual thought: This Sunday Elder Thueson and I fasted
for one of our investigators, and half way thru church a member from another
ward pulled us out of sacrament meeting. He introduced a guy who was interested
in our church. Long story short he lives out of his car, works for AAA towing, and gets 9 bucks an hour. I have a strong testimony of fasting and I know it
brings forth a lot of miracles!
I love you all and I hope you guys have a great week!
Elder Chase Johnson
